Drool at Duke's Brew & Que

Drool at Duke's Brew & Que

Everyone should be so lucky to have this joint within walking distance of their home.  Duke's Brew & Que in DeBeauvoir Town, a quiet little hamlet between Dalston and Shoreditch, is a perfect balance between home away from home, an evening out hipster spotting, and damn good gourmet BBQ.  And it is as close to hyper local eating and drinking as you can get (even if the influence is from across the pond!)

American BBQ is as varied as its geography and accents.  Duke's has chosen to perfect the dry rub of the deep South, and after the long critical hours spent smoking and melting away, the resulting ribs, impossibly moist and meaty, would make any American BBQ expert drool.  Sourced locally from the UK, the pork is from Norfolk and the beef is from County Armagh in Northern Ireland.

There is not a drip of "BBQ sauce" (aka K.C. Masterpiece) in the house.  In fact, as any en trend cook these days would do, they make their own.  You get not one, but two dipping pots - a spicy tomato (I'll say BBQ sauce like sauce) and another sweet mustard style sauce.  I chose to alternate my dips between the two!  They are both delicious!

As if that weren't enough, Duke's is also home to one of the finest craft beer breweries in London - Beavertown Brewery.  They keep an alternating tap of their finest and seasonal brews, along with many other big names in craft brewing.  If I were a beer gal, I'd be pleased.

Duke's prooves that to be the best you have to start with good quality product, commit, and take no shortcuts!  Patience makes perfect.

Go to Duke's Brew & Que.  Eat their food.
